What are Belgrano's colors?
Sky Blue from Alberdi: Belgrano’s Defining Look
Sky Blue, known locally as celeste, has been central to Belgrano’s appearance since the club’s early years in Córdoba’s Alberdi neighborhood. Founded on March 19, 1905, Club Atlético Belgrano developed a visual identity around Sky Blue and White, colors closely associated with its traditional shirt and crest. The badge reinforces the pairing through its Sky Blue center and White elements, while the home kit has repeatedly returned to a predominantly Sky Blue design across different eras. Belgrano is consequently also known as El Celeste, a nickname drawn directly from this defining color. Black and other shades have appeared in kit details and alternative uniforms, but they do not replace the enduring Sky Blue and White combination at the center of the club’s identity. The connection is especially visible around Alberdi, where Belgrano has maintained its football home for generations.
The Gigante at the Heart of Alberdi
Belgrano’s home ground, Estadio Julio César Villagra, opened in Alberdi in 1929 and is widely known as El Gigante de Alberdi. Its construction gave the club a permanent football setting in the neighborhood with which it had already developed a close association. The stadium became notable in Córdoba for its scale and for the use of concrete grandstands, an important development in the province’s early stadium history. Today, the ground continues to connect Belgrano’s Sky Blue identity with a specific part of Córdoba rather than functioning simply as a match venue. The club’s crest, shirts and stadium surroundings repeatedly bring the same Celeste character into view, making Alberdi and Sky Blue two closely linked elements of Belgrano’s football identity.
